The Foundation
In 1996, Cobus Beukes founded CST Digital Communication with a singular purpose: to build software intelligent enough to drive the most demanding security screening systems on earth. What followed was XMan2.
Over the years that followed, XMan2 became the software of choice for global leaders in the full body X-ray scanner industry — powering systems for some of the most prominent names in the global X-ray scanner industry, serving mining corporations, precious metals refineries, diamond operations, and correctional services on multiple continents.
By the time the 100th XMan2 system had been deployed, CST had accumulated something no competitor could replicate; genuine, field-proven, operational knowledge of what security screening demands at the highest level. Knowledge of the workflows that fail under pressure. The compliance requirements that carry real consequences. The integration challenges that are never straightforward. And above all, what a truly comprehensive screening solution must do to earn the lasting trust of the world's most security-conscious clients.
Building What We Knew the World Needed
That accumulated knowledge had an inevitable destination.
Drawing on everything CST had learned through the development and global deployment of XMan2, Cobus Beukes founded Insight Systems with a single mission: to build the world's most advanced full body X-ray scanner from a clean sheet. Not iterating on legacy technology. Redesigning the category entirely.
The JUKA™ 600 series is the result. The world's first and only third-generation full body scanner, JUKA™ brings together next-generation hardware engineering and XMan3 — the successor to XMan2 — into a single, comprehensive security solution. It is now integral to security operations at several of the world's largest mining houses.
CST and Insight Systems are separate companies. Together, they represent a continuous arc of innovation spanning nearly three decades — from the software that first proved what was possible, to the scanner that defines what comes next.
